Husband Beat Wife to Death in Masis (VIDEO)

A 20 year old wife, Zaruhi Petrosyan, was killed on October 1, 2010, due to injury from beatings from her husband and mother-in-law. However, the official report states that there was no foul play, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The husband, Yanis Sarkisov, was questioned, but no charges have been filed.

ArmeniaNow has a piece about this, but focuses mostly on the problem of domestic violence in Armenia. I have subtitled the above video (I thank those who uploaded it first on YouTube) to make it more accessible to the non Eastern-Armenian speakers. Please help with corrections as you find them.

Bill Handel & KFI Issue Apology Over Comments

It seems like after a whole month the pressure got to much to bear, thanks to your support with the petition, email to the station, and complaints with the FCC. A video apology has been issued and it is expected that a live, on-air apology will also be made, along with other concessions down the road.

I want to personally thank everyone who took time out of their life to fight against this sort of hatred. It is because of you that we were victorious.

Here is the video: http://www.kfiam640.com/pages/Promotions.html

And this is the on-air apology broadcast on June 12, 2009.

Azerbaijan's Entire Economy Set to Collapse

As you probably know by now oil prices have plummeted, resting near the $40 a barrel mark, and expected by some to slide further still. According to Google, and disregarding increased production for the sake of simplicity, Azerbaijan pumps out about 800,000 barrels of oil a day. That's quite a bit even by today's numbers, amounting to something like $32,000,000/day or about $11.5 billion dollars a year in an economy with a GDP of about $53 billion a year. That's a staggering 20% of the production from oil. But wait, the $53 billion figure could be off, as the 2008 average price of crude was $100, give or take, thus Azerbaijan could have a shortfall of about $17,000,000,000. And with all the crisis, Aliyev still wants to continue spending money that it does not have, as evidenced by their $2.5 billion debt, though likely much more now, in his ultimate wet dream to equal his military spending to Armenia's GDP.

And all this when more Azeris than Armenians live on less than $2 a day, even with the fact that Armenia has zero oil and an economy roughly less than one fourth the size.

So, should we call the bookies?

Karabakh Agreement Signed

This just in!
At Sunday's talks hosted at Meiendorf Castle, the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed "to speed up further moves in the negotiating process" over Nagorno-Karabakh, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said in a statement.

The two country's foreign ministers would work with Russia, the US and France, co-chairmen of the Minsk Group of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), which is seeking a diplomatic solution to the conflict, he added.
Sounds like a waste of time to me, unless one side gives up. We all know it won't be Azerbaijan and we all know that Serzh has indicated that he would trade or willingly give up some lands altogether.

Probably a non-event, but we'll see.

Turkish Hotel Denies Accomodation to 120 Children

When was the last time you heard of an Armenian hotel doing this? Then they say I'm biased!
Monaco Beach Hotel of Turkish Kemer was to accommodate the Moscow youth. But the busses with children and teens were going from one seaside resort to another till 6:00 p.m., as the children were banned from entering the hotel hall. The youngest of them were losing consciousness due to the lack of water.

...another reason of delay was the desire of hotel authorities to get $16,000 compensation for the previous group.
Filthy. Disgusting. Genuinely Turkish.
