The Armenia Blog Surpasses 100,000 Visits!

I am happy to report that this humble blog has surpassed 100,000 visits! That means that 100,000 different people have visited the blog since December 17, 2006, translating to over 6,000 unique visitors a month.

Can we improve on that number? Let's try!

Armenia Blog: What's Happening?

Oh no, what's happening? Quite a bit! As Armenia Blog nears its 1st birthday, it's only fair to make it even better. So if things look a little funky over the next few days, please bear with me. As the previous design only made use of a tiny bit of space in the center, the new design will hope to cover your entire screen in Armenian goodness.

Now, doesn't that sound great?

Armenia Blog Returns!

Ever wonder why I stopped blogging? I wonder all the time! Let's just say it was a mix of contemplation, indolence, and disillusion, but really just a big, one-month long break!

On the plus side, expect a better blog that will be updated more frequently than before. Things worked out well after all!

Looking forward to blogging for Armenians the world over!

Vanes Turns 21!

What better way to celebrate your recent victory than to get really, really drunk? Kill two birds with one stone, really!

Happy Birthday, Nightmare axper! How many people can claim 13 victories, 9 knockouts, and no losses in a very scary sport? Hardly any! May you rise to the top and make Armenians the world over proud!

April 24th

In about four hours it will be April 24th in Armenia. To those unaware, the 24th of April is the day that Armenians the world over remember and mourn the 1,500,000 who were brutally and systematically killed by Turkey. Their only crime? Being Armenian.

Take the day to remember our ancestors and the near destruction of our race. Equally important, think about how you will make a difference as one person. Will you educate? Will you inform? Will you protest? How will you do your part as an Armenian to make sure that such a devastating tragedy does not repeat once more to Armenians or any other group of people on Earth? Look at the past, think about the future.

Blogging will resume on the April 25th.

New Music Video Section

Due to the number of videos on the blog and the need to keep them distinct, there is now a new Music Video section to the right. The Video section will be reserved for all other kinds of videos, including documentaries, animations, and so on.

Explore and let me know if you like the change.

Happy Women's Day, Women!

Advertisements for Armenia: One Approach to Charity

I've been thinking about the numerous charities in Armenia and how they could use all the help they can get. Whether supporting mentally challenged orphans or Armenia's dying forests, there are numerous legitimate charities which are working hard to improve the lives of those less fortunate. As I'm not wealthy enough to personally support these charities myself, I've decided to use Armenia Blog as a vehicle to that end.

I've partnered with Google to place advertisements on the blog. When these advertisements are clicked on, the blog receives a few cents from Google. The advertisements constantly change to match the topic of the page: that is, they try to be relvant to what you're reading about.

Long story short, my goal is to collect the revenues from these advertisements and at the end of the year and donate them to a legitimate Armenian charity or charities, depending on the total amount generated. Furthermore, I will attempt a fundraising drive before the end of the year to boost the dollar amount even more. Naturally, you will known the amount generated at the end of the year and you may even have the ability to vote for the certain charities that will receive the sum.

The ads will appear with red text.

I hope that Armenia Blog and you, its readers, will contribute to important Armenian charities. Thank you so much for being on-board with this experimental project!

Armenia Blog Now Has Categories!

Right! Look to your right: do you see the section labeled BROWSE? Of course you do! Browse allows you to look through recent as well as old stories of a specific category, so if you're only interested in recent sports news, you won't have to sift through a discussion on foreign policy to get there. Nifty, eh?

I'm still working on the categories: I am changing, merging, etc.

If you have any specific ideas to make the blog better, I'm all ears!

Armenia Blog Maintenance

In case you are wondering why there aren't a ton of new entries: Armenia Blog is being made better and faster as we speak...erm, type! I'm working on making previous entries much more accessible, as well as making the entire blog load much quicker than now.

You should see new stuff in about 24 hours.

See you soon!

Armenia Blog in Russian, French, Arabic

I realize that English isn't the international language, which is why I have added a "Translation" area to the blog. Click on either Arabic, French, or Russian and the entire web page will be translated to that language. It may not be perfect, but it should be enough - at least until I learn Arabic and French! ;)

I hope the new feature is useful to you!

MySpace Account Deleted

I'm disappointed to report that our MySpace account has been deleted. Without knowing the exact reasons for this, I am not going to start pointing my fingers at anyone. However, we suspect there may be foul play involved.

We'll keep you updated as to what is happening with our official request for information.
