Kim Kardashian to Visit Armenia

I just love Kim. Who doesn't? One moment she's getting her brains tucked out in a video intentionally released everywhere for popularity and in another she's declaring her love for Armenia and its culture, despite knowing nothing about anything, and announcing a visit to Armenia. Joy!

That night at dinner my sisters, brother and I decided it is mandatory that we go to Armenia. None of us have ever been, neither had my dad and neither have my grandparents!

I am also going to be honest, I don't speak Armenian (I know, a lot of you have asked). And I don't know all of the historical details -- so if you have some stories to share with me, I would love that!

The Growth of HIV/AIDS in Armenia

Is there a country out there that can escape HIV/AIDS statistics?

...the officially registered number of people with HIV/AIDS by the end of December last year rose to 429. Last year alone 66 news cases of HIV were registered. The bulk of HIV carriers-76 percent, are men between 20-29. Also nine children with HIV were registered. Most infection comes about through the intravenous injection of drugs (52 percent) and through heterosexual contacts (43 percent).

Since 1988 99 people, of whom 18 women and three children, have died of AIDS.

Other independent estimates put the overall number of HIV/AIDS carriers at about 3,000 people.

Yikes! Armenia has to do something about this, whether a public ad campaign of the dangers, the promotion of contraceptives, or free testing for those who may not even be aware and inadvertently pass it on to others.
