This is a bit of an old story, but you should know about it. Armenia's current anthem dates back to the beginning of the 20th century and some feel that it does not accurately reflect modern Armenia.
Famous composer Tigran Mansuryan said today he is not going to take part in the selection process of national anthem.I quite like the anthem, but maybe that's because I don't seem to know anything after the first verse! ;)
Speaking about “Our Motherland” which is the official national anthem of the republic again, Mansuryan said, “This national anthem is our shame.” He said the music and the words have no Armenia origins. He said it is a translated text.
The composer prefers the music by Aram Khachatryan saying it is very Armenian music. “The question is – is it ours or not?”
