...Russia is ready to send specialists for the works to be carried out. The Armenian authorities are planning to build a new NPP, since the republic has no other alternative after the closing of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant.

I am not sure if the writer of these words had a chance to spend a winter or two in Armenia when there was no power, no gas, and no heat. It is kind of easy to pass opinions from a nice and warm place.
The writer of this blog spent all of those awful years in Yerevan and knows very well what the hell he is talking about.
Perhaps you should read about the side-effects of radiation poisoning on the environment and especially on people. If you read the entry correctly, you would see that I am not saying go cold; instead, find a damn alternative.

New nuclear plant in Russia
Russia is getting started on a new nuclear plant. A contract has been signed to set up AtomEnergoProject as the lead contractor for Novovononezh Phase 2.
The plant will be alongside the existing Novovoronezh plant and will have at least two nuclear reactors. It's all part of a grand plan for Russia to increase it's share of nuclear electricity from 17% now to 23% in 2020. That means building around 18 new reactors.
