Here's a short clip of the march in Little Armenia earlier today, March 2, 2008. Some claim up to 50,000 people showed, but I find that hard to believe.
Oh, and it seems that most people were...older. Figures, because younger people have better things to do than waste their time with a pointless march.
Imagine being there and not being Armenian.

More than 40 people have died in Armenia in the last two days. The official report says 8, but I have contacted at least 15 family members in Armenia and they all say the same thing. It's far more than the government is disclosing.
Second, if you feel that lending moral support to people who died in Armenia for just taking part in democratic demonstrations is "pointless," then you are a selfish individual who has a lot of growing up to do.
Third, the march made people all over the United States aware of what is happening in Armenia. Where the government is killing its own people. I'm doing my part to help MY people. What are you doing?
You must be a Levonakan.
First, the purpose of this "march" was not to remember those who died - which by the way official reports by non-Armenian news organizations put only at 8 and I suggest you show me solid evidence to the contrary other than you called some people - but rather it was about trying to undemocratically get Levon in power. What were they changing? Levon!
Second, the United States could care less about what's happening in Armenia, because it is insignificant. If anything, the march served only to show the community that we have senior citizens who would rather March down Sunset than be in their comfy little ADHCs playing nardi.
Third, the government is not killing its own people. The police DID NOT fire at the people, but fired towards the sky as warning shots. Guess who started the attacks? Levon supporters who threw rocks and fire bombs at forces.
So why don't you get off your high horse and see facts for what they are and not for what your wishful leader Levon wants you to believe and then maybe you'll get your head out of your ass at the same time.
and who attacked the sleeping protesters in their tents at 6:00 am in the morning? Was it just a conspiracy by Levon to ruin our country??? wake up stop believing the mafioso...When your attacked no matter who it is are you not going to fight back? I don't care if its a cop or if its the president himself if they attack me back I will defend myself.
here's further proof that innocent protestors were attacked by armed guards and not the other way around. It's just too bad that ignorant people like yourself believe what the corrupt armenian government says...if the protestors were going to resort to violence they would've done so from day one...not wait till the 11th day when the armed guards happened to have been deployed.

Rhyne, every time I read one of you comments I regret that you're the one who runs this blog. I don't support either of the candidates, but you have to look at the facts. All the "non-Armenian news organizations" that put the death toll at 8 were citing information provided by the Armenian government, most of the reports even said they were citing the government. Secondly, no one should ever discourage protests, weather protesters are protesting for the right thing or not, it's always a step towards democracy.
I don't support either candidate, either, but I do know that one of the candidates is responsible for setting up this entire disaster and his name isn't Serge.
Do you really blame Serge for finally acting or for Levon for pushing and pushing until the situation reached critical mass? I blame Levon and any sane person would blame him, too.
Rhyne- sometimes i am really concerned of your ability to analyze political situations. To call somebody LEVONAKAN just because FORTY people died only reveals your immature, inability to reflect side.
what about those people who were being intimidated/threatened by the police forces or goxakanner in armenian during the elections? what about taking CAMERAS away from the independent reporters? what about not being able to access armenianow.com or other sites right now??? excuse me, but where is your heart???
Think beyond the lines of Levonakan-Sejakan. Think of HUMANS, YOUR ARMENIAN BROTHERS & SISTERS DYING. IT is FAR beyond political lines. Sympathy? Conscience anyone???
40 people did not die. I challenge you to show me unbiased sources that show that, as well as the names of the dead. 9 confirmed people have died.
Which is not to say it's any less serious of a situation, but Levon is to blame directly for this.
Democracy prevailed. A minority group was unhappy with that. Levon rallied them. 9 people died.
It's as simple as that.
Correction: 8 people, not 9.

I don't blame Sege or Levon, I blame Robert. He's the one that ordered troops to be sent in, he's the one who had troops to place guns next to sleeping protesters and then beat them, he's the one that caused this situation to become violent.
