From Glendale, With Fraud

Don't think that just because I am an Armenian and this is Armenia Blog that I'm only going to talk about positive things as they relate to our people. From the "not so great" department, I give you this:
Eight people connected to a Glendale-based charity were arrested on suspicion of fraud after the Los Angeles Police Department linked them to an international crime ring.

Global Human Services, which posed as an organization that regularly sent humanitarian aid overseas to the Republic of Georgia, Jordan, Armenia and Russia, was actually a front for international car theft and fraud...

In June, an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement search of two of the organization’s shipping containers in Houston uncovered a shipment of women’s shoes and two late-model sport utility vehicles hidden behind false walls in each container...

It’s estimated that the GHS shipped $5 million worth of cars in the past few years, not including the loss to insurance companies through fraudulent claims.

Those in custody are: GHS operators Rita Gervorkyan, 27, and Garegin Narinyants, 32, both of Burbank, who are being held on $500,000 bail. Co-operators Lioudvig Gevorkian, 57, and Gayk Gevorkian, 21, are believed to be out of the country but are also wanted by the LAPD.

Six car owners and lessees who allegedly participated in the scam were arrested last night and early this morning. Each was being held in lieu of $30,000 bail, according to the LAPD.
Stories like these don't make me proud to be Armenian, because these people only serve to create stereotypes for the rest of us. The Armenians that I like to think of are artists, musicians, businessmen, and others of positive influence.

I work for a MasterCard credit card company and we see a lot of fraud from Armenians. Anytime we see a last name with ian or yan in Glendale, CA we know what is coming. One of their favorite things to do is open an account and sit on it for a few years then they charge the card up to its limit, write a check for the full amount and let it post to the account, then they charge the card up to its full limit again and then the payment comes back NSF resulting in huge losses. Funny how in America we have given Armenians refuge from being killed in their own country and this is how they repay us. And yes, I know it isn't all Armenian's but it is more then just a few.

What you said is 100% im Armenian and there is nothing wrong with what you just said. its true... and its a shame. but none the less when people get greed and want the easy way out or never learned/study in school. there's only 1 way out.

cheat and lie

doesn't matter what race you are. My community will never learn ...

they are all followers.
1 person drives a RangRover
-they all drive rand rovers

1 person drives a sport bike
-they all drive sport bike

1 person drives a g35/350z
-they attempt to do the same.

1 person drives a Maserati
-they all tried to do the same

bottom of the line. they are all followers every seasons in the year there is a new fade going on.

I worked at a bank in Glendale for over 3 years and dealt with this first hand just about everyday. I am not Armenian, but I quickly learned what the culture is like. There are some who are good, have good intentions, bust their ass to get ahead. Then there is the majority of them who like to take shortcuts in life. Unfortunately due to traditions the good ones are socially forced to have loyalty to the bad ones. This is one thing I noticed about this culture the most, regardless of what cloth your made of, if your Armenian, you have support of the whole community. This isn't found in other cultures that have migrated to the United States. This is what makes it easy for the bad ones to do the crimes they do. Another fact that helps them commit these crimes is the fact that in their home land their government infastructure is filled with holes. Its easy for an Armenian to visit the homeland and get a death certificate or a new Identification.
Aside from credit frauds they commit the biggest crime in my opinion is in Realestate. California experienced a huge realestate boom and crash in the last 9 years. Working in the bank during this time I noticed that every Armenian either was or aspired to be in the realestate industry. They all wanted the quick buck. So, if you have a purchaser, seller, appraiser, escrow officer, and loan officer working together, they can all drive home prices up by buying, appraising, selling, the same house multiple times bringing up the values of all the homes in the area. And if you have a bunch of buyers and seller in on this what you have is an accelerated bubble. The market has changed since, like everything else, the higher you climb, the harder you fall. And im pretty sure they had a huge roll in the collapse of the credit market.
I dont dislike Armenians, I have had the pleasure of meeting many of them from all walks of life. The good ones are the nicest most hospitable, caring individuals who are truly seeking to life the American Dream. The bad ones will try to sell you a car thats been chopped and tell you its brand new.
One way I have learned to tell whos who is by the car they drive. If you know of an Armenian who drives a Honda, Toyota, or regular car within their means they are most likely the humble honest type. If you see one dressed like a 1990's Mexican Gangster driving a high end Luxury automobile speeding down the blvd, hes most likely involved in some type of Fraud. You can also spot them wearing dark clothing, pointy "Genie" shoes, and hanging out next to their Luxury Car outside a 7-11.
Final message, to all those pretty Armenian Girls, dont feel like you have to date an Armenian because tradition says so. This country is full of many cultures and Traditions that have been left behind. Its time to step out of that bubble and diversify yourself with other people, thats what America is about. And if your dating or married to one of the Fraud guys, don't be stupid to think they wouldn't cheat on you. I know of many who are married and have some Latin or white girl on the side their sleeping with while your at home taking care of the kids. Armenians have been here a long time and aren't going anywhere, its time like other people from this world who have come here to mix it up with other cultures.
