The "Rural Roads Rehabilitation Project" Begins

Here are the details:
Millennium Challenge Account - Armenia (MCA-Armenia) and the Armenian Road Directorate (ARD) SNCO signed an Implementing Entity Agreement today, according to which the MCA-Armenia is going to implement Rural Roads Rehabilitation Project (RRRP) through ARD. The Agreement has been signed by MCA-Armenia CEO Ara Hovsepyan and ARD Director General Karen Gevorgyan.

The Agreement with ARD is signed for 5 years with the total amount of USD 1.087 million.

MCA-Armenia Program (USD 236 million) aims to reduce rural poverty through a sustainable increase in the economic performance of the agricultural sector. The Program includes a USD 67.1 million project to rehabilitate up to 943 kilometers of rural roads, more than a third of Armenia's proposed "Lifeline Road Network."
This is great news! It is only through better infrastructure that the rest of Armenia can open up economically and culturally with Yerevan and other areas, as well.
