Another story today that was originally reported quite a bit ago. This time the opposition is much closer to Serbia.
We have long declared that the OSCE has imposed an arms embargo on Armenia and Azerbaijan because of the conflict in Nagornyy-Karabakh and that there is an instructive Resolution 8153 by the UN Security Council that requires all countries to refrain from supplying "any arms or ammunition to Armenia or Azerbaijan." underlined [Serbia's Foreign Minister Draskovic. It's hard to argue with that, but why was any sort of business initiated knowing full well that there was an embargo? Something seems fishy.
Then there is the decision by the US Government to discontinue business with countries that violate arms embargoes. Since the Kragujevac arms manufacturers earn more than 20m dollars a year from exporting arms to the United States, there is a big risk of losing 22m dollars because of that 2m dollars deal with Armenia, but from the outset I have thought that the state should compensate the arms manufacturers.

hi, i´m from serbia and maybe i can explain: there will be parlamentary elections in serbia on january 21st.
it started with an dispute in november (on the top of russian-georgian dispute, when a lot of people expectet military action, by russia or georgia) about arms-sellings to georgia (EUR 40 mio.). there was an outcry in the public (no use of serbian arms against russian soldiers) and politicians gave in. this guy, draskovic, foreign minister (this ministry is aproving arms-exports) stopped this selling and stopped (no one knows why) the selling to armenia (EUR 2 mio.) too!
this gave a new public outcry, especially because of the srs (serb radical party). or as their speaker in parliament said: the turk (azeri president) was in their house and spit on them by talking science fiction about new wars. we shouldn´t send them weapons for EUR 2 mio., we should send´em weapons for EUR 200 mio., and we should send´em for free.
now draskovic is giving in (you can´t win elections in serbia with an anti-armenian attitude) and talking nonsense about the usa and economic relations, just to keep his face.
but everyone in serbia knows the usa won´t make any trouble because of a EUR 2 mio. deal, because they are going to buy serb-fabricated nato-compatible kalashnikows ("M-21") for the 10 iraki brigades and for their units. why? because it´s the cheapest nato-compatible rifle in the world market&one of the best by quality.
best wishes

Thanks for that! :)
We should be selling arms to you, but the government takes its cue from the West. What can you do.
