Discussion of Poverty Reducing Program to Commence

As reported earlier, Armenia is gearing up for a powerful year. On its agenda is also poverty reduction and rural development.
The first meeting of donors under the rural poverty reduction program is to be held in February 2007, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Vardan Oskanyan told a press-conference.

The meeting is to discuss the implementation of the program and rural development prospects. The All-Armenian Hayastan Fund is to implement the program after all the necessary consultations are held, Oskanyan said. At the first stage, the program will be implemented in 25 or 30 Armenian village communities.

The Program is aimed at development of Armenia's border and mountainous villages, reduction of poverty and unemployment, and bridging the gap between Armenia's capital and regions
I would have loved some more details as to how they plan on accomplishing those things, but that may only become available after the first meeting. We'll keep you updated.
